Best RMM Tools For MSPs 2026: Prices Compared

Written by Patrick Clements | Oct 23, 2026, 5:00:51 PM

The best RMM tools for a small MSP in 2026 are NinjaOne, Atera, Syncro, and Level if you want a published price. Datto RMM, ConnectWise RMM, N-able N-central, and Kaseya VSA sell on quote. Pick the RMM software by pricing unit, then connect a PSA to bill the work.

  • Prices checked Oct 20, 2026
  • How We Chose
  • 8 RMMs compared · 3 r/msp threads

An RMM watches and patches client devices. Logging hours and sending invoices is PSA work, and two licenses here, Atera and Syncro, bundle PSA features in.

Picked an RMM without the billing side? Connect tickets, time, and invoices to it with SherpaDesk, a helpdesk and PSA a small IT team can run alone. No contract. No implementation project. No dedicated admin.

Key takeaways

  • Four of the eight RMMs publish a price. NinjaOne and Level price per device; Atera and Syncro price per technician with unlimited endpoints. RMM Pricing Compared
  • Level is free up to 10 devices. From the 11th device, every device costs $2 a month. Free And Open-Source RMM
  • Atera and Syncro bundle PSA features. With another RMM, contract billing needs a PSA. For 3 technicians, Syncro Core costs $477 a month; our High Camp plan $110, RMM billed separately. Pairing Your RMM With A PSA

How we chose

  1. Built for MSPs. Each tool monitors, patches, and scripts client devices.
  2. First-party prices only. Every price comes from the vendor's own page; the rest are "Quote only".
  3. A named reason. Quote-only vendors stay when they fit a specific stack, such as Autotask.
  4. The PSA link. We noted whether the vendor's page puts PSA features in the price.

We publish this guide. Our product, SherpaDesk, is a helpdesk and PSA, not an RMM, so it is not in the list.

What Is RMM Software?

Definition

RMM software (remote monitoring and management software) is what IT service providers use to watch and maintain client devices from one place. An agent on each device reports its health. Technicians then patch, update, and script fixes remotely, often before the client notices a problem.

An RMM doesn't run the business side. PSA products handle project management, resources, and time and expense tracking. If you bill clients by the hour or by contract, that work needs a PSA, bundled with the RMM or bought on its own. Our guide to what PSA software is covers the other half.

RMM Pricing Compared

RMM software pricing comes in two units. Per-device plans charge for every managed endpoint. Per-technician plans charge for each person who logs in, with unlimited endpoints.

For 3 technicians, Syncro Core costs $477 a month, or $387 per month billed annually. Atera Pro costs $417 a month, or $387 per month billed annually. Both include RMM.

Our High Camp plan costs the same team $110 a month ($100 per month billed annually), because the first agent is free. The RMM is billed separately.

NinjaOne and Level totals depend on your device count.

So which is the cheapest RMM software? It depends on three numbers: your devices, your technicians, and whether you need PSA features in the same license. Level costs $0 up to 10 devices. For per-device plans, use the calculator below.

Pulseway RMM pricing is not published: its pricing address opens the homepage, which shows no price.

  • Month-to-month billing only case by case

Recommendation

Choose NinjaOne if you want an RMM priced per device and a PSA you choose yourself.

Pilot check: patch a Windows, macOS, and Linux device plus one third-party app, and confirm alerts reach your PSA as tickets.

Atera

Best for MSPs that want RMM and a helpdesk priced per technician

$129 per technician per month on Pro, billed annually · $139 monthly

  • Unlimited endpoints
  • Helpdesk, contracts and invoicing included
  • 30-day trial, no card
  • Minimum not stated

Atera RMM pricing is per technician, so adding devices doesn't change the bill.

Strengths

  • Helpdesk, time tracking, and invoicing in Pro
  • Monitoring and patch management in Pro

Limitations

  • Pro's patching agent covers Windows; Mac and Linux start on Growth
  • Pro limits Splashtop to 2 concurrent sessions

Recommendation

Choose Atera if you manage many devices per technician and mostly Windows.

Pilot check: patch a Mac on the plan you would buy, and run two remote sessions at once, Pro's Splashtop limit.

Syncro

Best for MSPs that want RMM and PSA on one license

$129 per technician per month on Core, billed annually · $159 monthly

  • Unlimited endpoints
  • PSA in every plan
  • 14-day trial, no card
  • Minimum not stated

Syncro puts RMM and PSA in every plan. Core covers Windows patching, scripting, ticketing, and invoicing. Microsoft 365 security and identity management comes only on Team, at $179 per technician per month, billed annually; $209 billed monthly.

Strengths

  • Recurring billing built in

Limitations

  • Microsoft 365 security and identity management needs Team

Recommendation

Choose Syncro if you want one vendor and one bill for RMM and PSA.

Pilot check: route a test alert into a ticket, log time on it, and send the invoice within the 14-day trial.

Level

Best for new MSPs that want to start free and pay per device

Free up to 10 devices · then $2 per device per month

  • Free tier, no time limit
  • From the 11th device, every device is billed
  • PSA not included
  • Minimum not stated

Add an 11th device to Level and the $2 rate applies to your whole count, so 11 devices cost $22 a month. Billing is month to month, with no setup or onboarding fee.

Strengths

  • Payment method needed only at the 11th device

Limitations

  • No ticketing or PSA by design

Recommendation

Choose Level if you are starting out and want to pay per device.

Pilot check: deploy agents on your 10 free devices, count a week of alerts, and decide where tickets will live, since Level has none.

Free And Open-Source RMM

Level is the simplest free start: 10 devices, every feature, no time limit. Self-hosted options cost nothing to license but need a server and your time.

  • Tactical RMM is free to self-host for your own and your customers' systems. Its license states that it "is not an open-source software license". Code-signed Windows agents, Mac and Linux agents, and single sign-on need a sponsorship from $55 a month.
  • MeshCentral is open source and self-hosted, built for remote device management. Check its monitoring and patching against your list.

How To Choose An RMM For Your MSP

Start with your stack, then the pricing unit. One r/msp member spent "60 days doing demos, trials and cost analysis" before choosing.

  1. Match your PSA. On Autotask, look at Datto RMM. On ConnectWise PSA, look at ConnectWise RMM. On a separate PSA, check its documented integrations first.
  2. Pick the pricing unit. Per-device plans suit few devices per technician. Per-technician plans suit many devices per person.
  3. Read the thresholds and OS coverage. Level bills every device from the 11th. Atera Pro patches Windows only.
  4. Run the pilot yourself. TechTarget's advice: install a test system first if you can. In one trial week, deploy agents, set patch exceptions, open a remote session, count the alerts, and route one alert to a ticket. Then list the tasks that still need a second person after setup.

Per-device RMM cost per month

$300per month for the RMM

devices × price per device, for per-device plans only. For Level, enter $0 up to 10 devices.

Then decide how to charge clients. "Do not line-item your RMM," one r/msp member advised; price the seat on the labor each endpoint takes.

Pairing Your RMM With A PSA

The RMM finds the problem; the PSA routes it as a ticket to a technician, then turns the work into a time entry and an invoice. Some MSPs buy a suite with both; others buy each tool and connect them.

"My priority is PSA more so than RMM," one r/msp member wrote while comparing bundles.

We don't build RMM. We integrate with yours, and the stack stays yours. NinjaOne lists SherpaDesk among the PSAs it integrates with. Our best MSP software guide compares the PSA side.

How this works in SherpaDesk

NinjaOne alerts become tickets you can bill

A helpdesk and PSA a small IT team can run alone. You connect NinjaOne with an API key and secret key under Settings > NinjaOne.

Your NinjaOne accounts sync to Account Manager and devices to Asset Manager. Alert rules create and assign tickets. The asset on each ticket links straight to its NinjaOne device profile.

Time logged on that ticket collects in Ready to Invoice, grouped by the client's contract.

Uninvoiced time from tickets, grouped by account contract. Demo workspace

The integration needs High Camp, $55 per agent per month ($50 billed annually). Your first agent is free, forever, and there is no contract.

Who this isn't for

If you want one license and one vendor for RMM and PSA, a bundle like Syncro or Atera fits better. We have no built-in RMM, and NinjaOne is the integration we document. With another RMM, check how its alerts reach your helpdesk before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the top 5 RMM tools?

Five RMM tools to shortlist are NinjaOne, Atera, Syncro, Level, and Datto RMM. NinjaOne prices per endpoint, Atera and Syncro per technician. Level is free up to 10 devices; from the 11th, every device is billed at $2 per device per month. Datto RMM, sold on quote, fits MSPs on Autotask PSA. On ConnectWise PSA, ConnectWise RMM is the alternative fifth.

What is an RMM tool?

An RMM tool is software an MSP or IT team uses to monitor and maintain client devices remotely. An agent on each device reports its health to one console. From there, technicians patch, update, and run scripts, often fixing issues before the client notices. See the definition.

Can you give me an example of an RMM tool?

NinjaOne is one example of an RMM tool. It monitors devices, patches Windows, macOS, and Linux, and prices per endpoint, from $3.75 a month at 50 or fewer endpoints. Other RMM software examples are Level, Atera, Syncro, Datto RMM, ConnectWise RMM, N-able N-central, and Kaseya VSA. See the table above.

How much does RMM software cost?

NinjaOne charges $3.75 per endpoint per month at 50 or fewer endpoints, falling to $1.50 at 10,000. Level is free up to 10 devices; from the 11th, every device costs $2 a month. Atera Pro and Syncro Core cost $129 per technician per month, billed annually. Datto, ConnectWise, N-able, and Kaseya quote only. Try the per-device calculator.

Is there a free RMM?

Yes. Level is free for up to 10 devices, with every feature and no time limit. Tactical RMM is free to self-host, but its license is not open source. Code-signed Windows agents, macOS and Linux agents, and single sign-on need a sponsorship from $55 a month. MeshCentral is open source and self-hosted, built for remote device management. See free and open-source options.

What is the difference between RMM and PSA?

RMM software monitors and patches client devices. PSA software runs the business around that work: tickets, time, contracts, and invoices. Connected, an RMM alert opens a PSA ticket, and the time on it reaches an invoice. Read more in What Is PSA Software?
